Innovation Center
Sandpoint specializes in electrodes, smart patches, and other medical devices that sticks to the body. Sandpoint has a long history of custom machines, processes, and modules. In the late 1980s Sandpoint, Lead-Lok, developed over 15 electrode processing systems called “E-Machines” these machines featured a custom snap placer with the ability to place a snap onto an electrode every as fast as 500ms per cycle.
In the mid-90s Sandpoint traded the snap placer design for SG2 solid gel formulation from Vermed, which was later acquired by Graphic Controls. Today Sandpoint’s Automation team is working with Buffalo to integrate an updated designed snap placer onto the existing V-Machines which are also electrode processing systems.

Manual to Automated Path (MTAP)
The Manual to Automated Path (MTAP) is a strategic framework designed to integrate automation at the earliest stages of new customer projects. Through close collaboration with our global Design and Development team, MTAP evaluates product designs early in the process, allowing the automation team to recommend design changes that enhance manufacturability. By doing so, we aim to simplify the manufacturing process, with modifications reviewed and approved before production.
This strategy also takes customer product growth into account to identify the right level of automation needed for profitability and product quality. By introducing automation only as necessary, we avoid excessive upfront costs while ensuring that the return on investment (ROI) aligns with each MTAP gate.
